Services for Distance Learners

The library provides the following services for UMD students, staff, and faculty not physically located on UMD's campus:

  • Delivery of materials available from a University of Minnesota campus library
  • Delivery of interlibrary loan materials (borrowed from a non-UM library)
  • Research assistance

About the Delivery Service

The library pays for outgoing shipping; you are responsible for the cost of return shipping. Shipped materials are subject to all library borrowing policies.

Request the material you need through Get It or through interlibrary loan, if unavailable from a UMN campus library. Select "Home Delivery" when placing your request and provide your address information. The length of time varies depending on availability, material type, shipping, and other factors. It is best to request materials well in advance of your deadline.
