Cell Phone Use
Guidelines for cell phone use
- Turn your ring tone volume to the lowest setting available or set your phone to vibrate. Preferably, turn your cell phone off.
- Use your cell phone in the library’s stairwells, group study rooms, or the main concourse outside the library’s lobby.
- Be considerate of others. Honor requests for quiet and move to another location if an unintended distraction occurs.
The Kathryn A. Martin Library is committed to providing a comfortable learning environment for all users. Cell phones and pagers are permitted in the library. It is expected that people using cell phones will be respectful of others. Many people come to the library for a quiet place to study and they find the noise from the use of cell phones and pagers disruptive.
Library users wishing to report inappropriate cell phone use may contact a library staff member at the nearest service desk.
Users with distracting cell phone etiquette will be asked to move to an area more appropriate for cell phone use or to leave the library building.
