Get the Most out of Citation Managers with Virtual Library Workshops

Learn how you can organize your research with online citation managers, Mendeley and Zotero

Whether you are a new or continuing student, managing your resources for projects and research can be overwhelming and frustrating...but they don’t have to be and we are here to help! With our available citation managers, you can keep track of your resources in one place whether it’s a web page, PDF, image, or other resources.

The Kathryn A. Martin Library offers support for the free citation management tools Zotero and Mendeley. If you want to get the most out of using either of these citation managers or would like to learn more about them, consider attending the free virtual workshops provided by the University of Minnesota Libraries.

Introduction to Zotero | September 23, 2020 - 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Learn how to use Zotero to create your own database of citations, PDFs, images, webpages, video, audio files, and more.  Zotero can then be used to create citations in a large number of citation styles which can be added to Google Docs, Microsoft Word and LibreOffice.

Introduction to Mendeley | September 24, 2020 - 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Join your fellow classmates on Zoom to learn how to use Mendeley to organize papers, read PDFs and add citations to documents in a variety of styles.  Mendeley can automatically locate, rename, and organize your citations and PDFs then create in-text citations and the bibliography. A Zoom link will be sent to registered students.

A complete list of upcoming workshops is available on the University of Minnesota Libraries website. If you have questions about using citation managers, contact a librarian!
