Games and Crafts at the Library

Crafts, games and mystery in the Library!

Hey new UMD Bulldogs! Do you want to get creative & loud in the library? Are you looking for an evening of board games including life- size "Settlers of Catan"? Maybe you are interested in trying out our new escape room event? The Kathryn A. Martin Library will be hosting Bulldog Welcome Week events on Thursday, August 23 from 7-10 p.m.

On the first floor of the library we’ll be hosting Get Crafty, the gluing, coloring, painting, button making extravaganza! Meet new friends and create all sorts of fun crafts like buttons, key chain fobs, perler bead art and washi tape magnets. Try your hand at decorating mason jars, coloring, or just create your own mish-mash craft using a lot of glue and materials!

Or, you can venture up to the 2nd floor of the library for BulldogCon! Our local game store Dungeon’s End will be here to teach us a variety of games new and old. BulldogCon will feature classics and new favorites like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Settlers of Catan (life-size version), Super-Fight, and Code-Names. Don’t know the rules? No problem - we’ll have seasoned game enthusiasts on hand to help out. A few lucky participants will even walk away with games from Dungeon’s End. If you’re a fan of strategy and games, or if you are just hoping to make some new friends, this is your event.

Not enough fun for you? Some lucky participants will have a chance to test our new escape room, located in our 4th floor Rotunda. Can you and your new friends decode the clues to unlock the secrets of a mysterious lighthouse? Get ready for a challenge!
