New E-Resources to Support Online Learning

In these uncertain times, the Library strives to support the shift to online and hybrid learning with the temporary addition of new ebook, ejournal, and streaming video content. It is our hope that this content will help instructors update their courses and meet the increasing demand of researchers for online articles and books.

Online Books & Journals

Academic Search Ultimate (EBSCO)

With triple the full-text content of Academic Search Premier, this collection of academic journals, magazines, periodicals, reports, books and videos meets the needs of scholars in virtually every discipline. Unlimited access to this database will be available until 06/30/2021.

eBook Academic Collection (EBSCO)

A multidisciplinary collection of more than 200,000 e-book titles covering a large selection of academic subjects and content from major publishers, including Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, Oxford University Press, and Sage Publications. Unlimited access to titles in the collection will be available until 06/30/2021.

JSTOR

JSTOR indexes and provides full text access to scholarly journals from various disciplines. Our usual subscribed content includes the Sustainability, Life Sciences, Arts & Sciences I-VII, and Ireland collections. JSTOR is providing free access to select unsubscribed journal collections until 12/31/2020.

Unlimited access to more than 48,000 high-quality backlist ebook titles from 88 publishers has been added through a subscription to the EBA collection until 06/30/2021. The most used ebooks in this collection will be permanently added to the Library’s ebook collection at the end of the EBA collection’s subscription period.

Music Scores

Naxos Sheet Music Library

Find and download music scores for nearly all instruments in multiple genres. Unlimited access to this collection will be available until 02/28/2021.

Streaming Videos

Academic Video Online (AVON)

Curated for the educational experience, this collection delivers almost 70,000 titles in a breadth of content-types (such as documentaries, films, newsreels, theatrical performances, demonstrations, etc.) spanning a wide range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. Unlimited access to all videos in this collection will be available until 07/31/2021.

At the end of the subscription period, many videos will be available to subscribe to on a title-by-title basis, so instructors will have the opportunity to request continuing access to specific titles before the subscription term is up.

Popular channels include:

Channels are an interesting way to browse, but they do include all Alexander Street videos, not all of which are part of the AVON collection. You may stumble across videos marked “Sample” while browsing channels. These videos must be purchased separately.

Tip: To embed videos in your Canvas course, look for the Share tab at the top of the video interface. You will be given an option to copy the permalink or embed code.

JoVE Science Education & Video Journal

An educational video library dedicated to teaching scientific fundamentals through simple, easy-to-understand video demonstrations. Unlimited access to select modules in this collection will be available until 06/30/2021.
