Experience the Reindeer Roundup

See a film about Arctic cowboys, and learn about reindeer herding in Minnesota.

Two cowboys of the Arctic, brothers Aarne and Lasse Aatsinki, are featured in a 90-minute documentary about traditional reindeer herding in Finnish Lapland. (The film "Aatsinki: The Story of Arctic Cowboys" is in Finnish with English subtitles.)

The program also includes a first-hand account of reindeer herding in Minnesota with Elli Sundholm. Elli was co-owner of a reindeer herd in Finland, Minnesota, and she will share the story of her experiences with reindeer husbandry. 

The Library co-hosts this event with UMD's American Indian Learning Resource Center and the Duluth Sami Cultural Center of North America.
