The library provides the following services for UMD distance learners:
- Delivery of materials available from a University of Minnesota campus library
- Delivery of interlibrary loan materials (borrowed from a non-UM library)
- Research assistance
About the Delivery Service
Distance learners are eligible to have library materials shipped to them. The library pays for outgoing shipping; you are responsible for the cost of return shipping. Shipped materials are subject to all library borrowing policies.
To qualify for the distance learner delivery service, you must:
- Be a currently enrolled UMD student or a current employee and live more than 50 miles from UMD, or
- Have a documented disability with UMD Disability Resources and need the academic accommodation of materials delivery
Using the Service
Request the material you need through interlibrary loan. When filling out the interlibrary loan form, choose "UMD Distance Learner" under Status. You will receive an email about your request to confirm your shipping address within 1 to 3 business days. Requested materials will arrive within 3 to 10 business days depending on where the material is coming from.
