Library welcomes new Publishing and Authorship Librarian

The library welcomes Nathan Larson as the new Publishing and Authorship Librarian.

Nathan received his B.A. in English and a Minor in Communications from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth in 2021 and his MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from Minnesota State University, Mankato in May of 2024. Nathan brings years of both creative and academic writing, editing, revising, and publishing experience. Libraries are familiar grounds for Nathan as his great-grandmother was president of the Minnesota Library Association.

As the Publishing and Authorship Librarian, Nathan provides leadership, direction, consultation, and outreach in the areas of copyright, digital scholarship, publishing, and research data management, both within the library and broader UMD campus. Nathan will also lead library efforts to promote open scholarship at UMD with collaboration and support from UMD library colleagues and from our Twin Cities University Libraries colleagues. Additionally, Nathan teaches information literacy instruction for courses within the College of Advanced Writing Program and works directly with various research institutions connected to UMD.

In his time outside of work, Nathan loves reading, writing, being outside, and being with his pets (2 cats and a dog).

"I love it when I can make my passions intersect with my work and, as such, welcome everyone to come to my office to talk about anything they're interested in: you never know what connections can be made!"
