This is a guide that explains how our collections are set up and what each contains. If you're not sure how to begin, please check out our Getting Started page and review the Research Room Guidelines.
Hours by Appointment
All are welcome to use the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Archives and Special Collections. Contact us at [email protected] or 218-726-8526 to ask questions and set up an appointment. Appointments are scheduled Monday – Friday 9:00am - 4:00 pm. Please let us know if you are a current UMD student, staff, or faculty member who needs archival materials for a class or work related project as we will prioritize those requests.
What We Do
The Archives and Special Collections department collects, preserves, and provides access to materials that document the history of University of Minnesota Duluth and Northeastern Minnesota. The collections include the Northeastern Minnesota Historical Collections which are on long-term loan from the St. Louis County Historical Society and the Minnesota Historical Society.

This fund supports the growth, care, and stewardship of the archives and special collections in the UMD Kathryn A. Martin Library.
Kathryn A Martin Library is pleased to announce that students, staff at UMD now have access to content from Anatomy.tv through the library's Database List.
Thanks to a partnership with the Twin Cities campus, students, faculty, and staff now can register for a free subscription with the Wall Street Journal website.
