Archives and Special Collections at Martin Library can be a source of rare and amazing resources. The staff there collect, maintain, and provide access to materials that document the University of Minnesota Duluth and Northeastern Minnesota.
Check out items at the library's circulation desk, located on the first floor.
Renewals happen automatically for items with loan periods of 3 days or longer, but please return materials when they reach their end renewal date. If your item is from interlibrary loan, you can renew through your interlibrary loan (ILL) account.
Return items at the circulation desk, our book drop, or at any U of M library. Interlibrary loan items can be returned to our circulation desk or book drop. Questions? Contact the Circulation desk at 218-726-6120.
Course Reserves is a library service that provides access to high-demand materials a professor or instructor has identified as being important to a course.
Librarians are available to work with faculty to schedule library instruction sessions, develop subject and course guides, collaborate on assignment creation, and more!
UMD students, faculty, and staff are welcome to request physical materials to be held for them if the materials are in any University of Minnesota library. Just sign into the library catalog, search for an item, click its title, and check for the Get It options (when available).
With our automatic renewal service, you should rarely have fees on your record. If you lose an item you have checked out, we accept payment at the Circulation desk by check only. If you are currently enrolled, your fees will be automatically transferred to your student account. If you are not a current student, your fees will be automatically transferred to the University Business Office for billing. Lost item charges are $100 for replacement and $15 for processing. Call 218-726-6120 if you have questions.
