Kathryn A. Martin Library appoints new Head of Research & Learning

Kim Pittman has been appointed to the role of Head of Research and Learning at the Kathryn A. Martin Library. Pittman previously served as the Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian. The Head of Research & Learning serves as the team leader for the Research & Learning Team and as a campus-wide advocate for services the team provides, including archives and special collections, collection development, digital services, information literacy instruction, and research support. 

“I'm excited to lead a team of motivated and talented people whose work supports the campus community's research, learning, and teaching! In this role, I hope to support our team's culture of collaboration and creativity and lead the team in developing our vision for the future of archives and special collections, collection development, digital services, information literacy instruction, and research support.” 

Pittman is a co-founder and former co-chair of the Minnesota Library Association Instruction Roundtable and a presenter for the Association of College & Research Libraries workshop, Engaging with the ACRL Framework: A Catalyst for Exploring and Expanding Our Teaching Practices. With Amy Mars and Trent Brager, Kim helped develop 23 Framework Things, an online professional development program that was recognized with the 2018 ACRL Instruction Section Innovation Award. She holds a Master’s in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She began her appointment on January 6.
