"This award gives us a chance to shine the spotlight on one person who made exceptional contributions in their leadership, customer focus, and/or quality of service in the past year," said Rosendahl. The award includes a certificate along with a $250 honorarium.
Lisa Wheeler was nominated for the award by a number of her coworkers in recognition of her knowledge and skill in cataloging combined with her Alma library system expertise. They commented that she makes the everyday work of the Access & Collection Services team much more efficient.
"Lisa quickly responds to requests for analytics that can pinpoint item records and user records that need attention," wrote one nominator. Her customer service to fellow staff members is provided enthusiastically, conscientiously, and in a timely manner.
Some examples of projects that Lisa helped to complete this year included: weeding of the videocassette collection; reducing the number of pseudo patrons in use; identifying proxy user notes so that expired notes could be cleared; and adding voluminous gift collections such as gifts received through the American Indian Learning Resource Center.
Lisa has worked at this library for just over a year. In that short amount of time, she has greatly impacted our operations. She tackled a large backlog of cataloging work, along with the gift collections, adding valuable resources for our users.
She has also contributed in an integral way to several working projects: lost/missing procedures, new book shelf, and new items list—to mention a few.
Lastly, her experience with Alma has made her a leader in its utilization within the library. We have been able to create better workflows, get work done faster and more efficiently, and take advantage of components in Alma that we had not used prior to her hiring.
Lisa has represented the library on Alma systemwide teams in an exemplary manner, keeping her UMD colleagues informed and passing along their insights to the central committees.
