UMD faculty and staff can request materials from Martin Library or other participating University of Minnesota libraries with the click of a mouse. Get It! provides system-wide sharing of library materials from all of the larger Twin Cities University Libraries as well as UMD, U of M Crookston, and U of M Morris.
Requests from U of M Campuses
When you find a title in the library catalog and click on the Get It! button, we try to obtain a copy of it.
Once the item is retrieved, it will either be held at your selected pickup location or mailed to the address you entered when you placed the request. You will receive an email when it is ready for pickup or sent out for delivery.
Items eligible for Get It! include books, bound periodicals, and music scores—items that circulate for at least one week.
Finding Library Materials
If you can't find what you need right away, place a Get It! request, we will search for the item and notify you of our progress.
When to Use Interlibrary Loan
Use interlibrary loan (ILL) to request:
- Articles not available at the UMD Kathryn A. Martin Library
- Materials that aren't owned by any University of Minnesota library
- Reference or other non-circulating items
- Materials that are restricted to use within a University of Minnesota library
