Find Books on Wellness Here

Borrow titles from the library's new Wellness Collection to get a jump start on your healthy lifestyle.

Curated in consultation with UMD's Employee Wellness Program, a new collection is being developed at the Kathryn A. Martin Library. You can find the Wellness Collection between the Audiobook Collection and the current newspaper shelves on the library's first floor.

The Wellness Collection includes books on self-help, nutrition, fitness, and other topics related to wellness. Wellness Collection books can be checked out for four weeks at a time.

Materials that focus on well-being from a physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, occupational, and environmental standpoint will be managed by Kayleen Jones, the library's Education & Human Service Professions Librarian.

The Wellness Collection is a partnership among Kathryn A. Martin Library, the Employee Health & Wellness Center, and the UMD Wellness Collaborative.

"Since most of our initiatives are in person and group oriented, we thought this would be a good way to increase access to wellness resources in an individual way," said Rachel Gilbertson, UMD Wellness Collaborative Co-Chair and Employee Health & Wellness Center Lifestyle Health Coach.

To help get the collection started, UMD's Wellness Collaborative donated a number of books, and others were relocated from the library's general collection. Starting in 2018, the library and the Employee Wellness program will be allocating funds to support growth of the collection.
