Services Available at Martin Library

The Kathryn A. Martin Library is committed to providing accessible facilities and services. UMD students requesting assistance will want to register with UMD's Disability Resources office in order to use specialized equipment and software in the library. 

Services offered include:

  • Individualized reference assistance. See Ask Us!
  • Materials retrieval. Stop at the 1st floor Circulation desk for staff assistance or use the Get It request service

Assistance with Equipment and Computing

ITSS computer consultants are available at the 1st floor help desk to assist with hardware and software in adaptive technology rooms 122 and 124.  These rooms offer a variety of software and hardware as listed below.


 

Room KAML 122

Hardware: HP EliteDesk with 22" widescreen LCD, HP ScanJet Pro 3500, Index Basic D v5 Brailler Embosser, headphones with microphone

Software: Dragon Naturally Speaking v11 Premium (speech recognition), Duxbury Braille Translator v11.3 (text to braille for embossing), JAWS v16 (screen reading), Read and Write Gold v11 (scanning, editing, and reading), and ZoomText v10 (screen reader and magnifier)


Room KAML 124

Hardware: Apple IMac (3.2 GHz Intel Core i3) with a 21" widescreen LCD, HP EliteDesk with 22" widescreen LCD, trackball, HP ScanJet Pro 3500, headphones with microphone

Software: Dragon Naturally Speaking v11 Premium (speech recognition software), JAWS v16 (screen reading), Read and Write Gold v11 (scanning, editing, and reading), and ZoomText v10 (screen reader and magnifier)
