Locate materials to check out by searching the library catalog, or by browsing specific library collections.
Borrow
Please bring items for checkout to the Circulation desk, located on the first floor of the Llibrary. Your U Card is your borrowing card, but you may use any photo ID to check out materials.
Renew
For your convenience, we will automatically renew loans of 3 days or longer until items reach their final renewal date. Regular books checked out to a UMD graduate student reach their end renewal date 12 months after checkout. Best Sellers reach their end date 8 weeks after checkout. You must return materials by the final due date to avoid overdue fines.
We won't be able to renew items that have been requested by other users.
Materials loaned for shorter terms, such as course reserve items, do not have the automatic renewal feature. They must be returned by the time due.
Check "My Account"
You may check your account and renew materials in the following ways: (1) in person at the Circulation desk, (2) by calling 218-726-6120 during hours when the library is open, and (3) online by using "My Account.
To request renewal of items borrowed through interlibrary loan, log in to your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account.
Late?
If books or journals become more than 30 days overdue, you will be billed a replacement charge of $100 plus a processing fee of $15. Items on short-term loan will be billed as lost even before they become 30 days overdue.
